“It was August of 1998 and I was 9 years old, I’ll never forget the day. My family was always at the beach in my childhood. Aunties meeting up with the kids, coolers, and such. It was a HOT day, I decided to pour this bucket of water over myself… and that’s when I noticed him. This man taking pictures of me from shore. Running to my mom to tell her, to my surprise the man met me at our blankets. He explained he worked for the local news paper “The Daily Press”, and that he wanted to feature me on the front page of local section. I honestly didn’t care. But once people started calling my mom the next day telling her they’ve seen me! I knew the fame bug had bit me and 22 years later.. I’m still in front of the camera.” -C.M
